About Dre: Dre Black has worn many hats as a singer, songwriter, producer, image consultant and now manager. Dre was born and raised in Washington, DC where he studied music and the arts at Duke Ellington School of Performing Arts. He's been singing since the age of five and started writing songs by the age of nine. He graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology with an AAS in Fashion Management and a BA in Communications from Marymount University and most recently Howard University with his Master’s in Social Work. He has worked with ASCAP award-winning songwriter, Joe Rich and indie producer DJ Boom of Listen Vision. Dre appeared on "American Idol: Season 4," in which he made it to the 3rd round at the DC auditions. He also appeared alongside Darren Harper in the groundbreaking skateboard DVD, "Get Familiar."
With his soulful rage and impressive lyrical abilities, it is clear to see why Dre is the “go to man” for hooks, verses, and signature adlibs that he is known to do. He has collaborated with an array of DMV artists including X-Kalibur, King Kan, Konshens, and Tony Reddz to name a few. Some of his songs have been featured on WPGC 95.5 and WKYS 93.9 in Washington, DC and XM Satellite/Sirius Radio.
Dre has now transitioned into a manager role, taking on his first artists Danny Zuko and Young Hogg, both talented artists from Washington, DC. Dre plans to inspire and lead his artists by example with having an extensive background behind the scenes and providing a clear path to lead his artists to ultimate success. Dre has performed all over including “Haydee’s Lounge,” “Pure Lounge,” “Club Liv,” “Muse Lounge,” and The Black Family Reunion on the National Mall in Washington DC to name a few, the "Atrium" in Atlanta, and the "Nuyorican Poets Cafe" in New York. He also keeps busy running his own blog site with over 1, 800 followers and over 300, 000 views at www.dreblacksofresh.com.
