About Shorty Da Prince: Jordan “Shorty da Prince” Johnson is definitely not a stranger to the Entertainment world. From music and radio to television, he has shown that he can hold his own. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Shorty started a career in radio when he was only 12 years old with his own radio show Saturday mornings from 10AM to Noon. “I was only supposed to be on the air for a month…but I didn’t find that out until about 2 years into doing the show,” said Shorty. When he turned 16, Clear Channel hired him as a full time night jock from 6 to 10PM on the city’s “100.3, The Beat” radio station. Shorty grew up on St. Louis radio going to public high school during the day and being the city’s number 1 radio jock by night. In 2010, Shorty landed a radio gig in Detroit, MI on “Hot 107.5” (Formerly “Hot 102.7”) and from there caught the attention of BET. BET reached out to Shorty to put together a tape because they were in search of new correspondents. “I just came into work about to do my shift and checked my email…the subject said BET and basically they had been following me and wanted me to put together a video and send it back to them,” Shorty explained. After about a year of just doing spot appearances on BET, from hosting the Grammy red carpet to doing BET’s Notarized Countdown, he was selected as one of the hosts for their flagship show, “106 and Park”.
