A man who was stabbed multiple times outside a Dupont Circle club early Monday morning has died, authorities said.

The victim has been identified as Sephar Jean-Simon, 22, of Silver Spring.

Police said he was unconscious when he transported to an area hospital, but he had been expected to survive.

The details of what led up to Jean-Simon's stabbing are unknown at this time, but officers were called to the 1200 block of Connecticut Avenue NW at 2:10 a.m. Monday for a report of a fight outside the Midtown Partyplex club.

Authorities first had to work to disperse the crowd outside the club, with one officer suffering a shoulder injury in the process. A suspect was arrested for that injury.

But as the crowd cleared, police found something Jean-Simon, who had been stabbed multiple times.

The stabbing suspect, covered in a yellow hoodie, was last seen running along Connecticut Avenue.

Police investigated the scene for hours, including bringing in a K-9 officer to search for any clues.

The area is known for its nightlife, but neighbors told News4 that they had never heard of any violence associated with the strip's many clubs and bars. Last year, a robbery, car chase and shooting incident was reported across the street at MIA Nightclub.

Serge Tindong, a friend of the victim, said Jean-Simon was known to his friends as "Swagg."

"He was one of the few good, kind-hearted people out there I ever knew," Tindong told News4.

Jean-Simon was a Wheaton High School graduate taking classes at Montgomery College. - nbcwashington
